The beginning of Smooth Cargo Movers Pvt. Ltd. was in the year 1996 at Capital of Himalayan Kingdom Nepal (Kathmandu), with the efforts of a single individual who was in this trade since 1984 and with in-depth knowledge of the business: Mr. Santosh Sharma, the Managing Director of Smooth Cargo Movers Pvt. Ltd. This Company was founded with a view to cater the requirements of the esteemed clientele of not only the valley but the entire country.
Nepal is a land locked country and business, here, is conducted via India as per the provisions laid down in the Indo-Nepal Transit Treaty promulgated in the year 1991. There were no land-sea shipments exported from Nepal, and hence, all shipments had to be airlifted. This whole concept of land-sea was introduced and evolved by Mr. Santosh and was introduced for the first time in Nepal using Kolkata/Haldia port as the hub for export shipments. This concept proved economically viable and thus most exporters adopted this modus operandi.
